'Ad Fontes!' is the latest publication of a German research group devoted to Dutch seventeenth-century art, which was formed in 2007 and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft.
|Date||11 February 2013|
The volume, edited by Claudia Fritzsche, Karin Leonhard and Gregor J.M. Weber, contains sixteen essays that illuminate central concepts from seventeenth-century artistic theory. This reconstruction of the original vocabulary of artists and their publics contributes greatly to a historically accurate understanding of Dutch painting. It is of interest to art historians, curators, restorers and the general public.
The presentation is followed by a lecture by Paul Taylor (Warburg Institute, London): From Mechanism to Technique: Diderot, Chardin, and the Practice of Painting
Languages: English and German. All welcome.
Supported by the Goethe-Institut Niederlande, the Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity and the Amsterdam Centre for the Study of the Golden Age.
